Torsion Spring 9Y0 615 270

Restore smooth, reliable operation of your Porsche’s hatch, hood or trim panel with the genuine torsion spring (part 9Y0 615 270). Crafted from high-tensile, heat-treated steel, this precision coil spring maintains consistent torque characteristics and ensures perfect return action in the factory-designed mounting.

Key Benefits

  • Exact OEM Specification
Manufactured to Porsche’s original CAD data for seamless drop-in replacement without modification.

  • High-Tensile Steel
Heat-treated alloy coil resists fatigue and retains spring force over thousands of cycles.

  • Precision Wind Count
Calibrated number of coils and wire diameter deliver exact torque and preload for secure, reliable closure or opening.

  • Corrosion-Resistant Finish
Zinc-plated surface protects against moisture, salt and environmental exposure, extending service life.

  • Versatile Application
Commonly used in tailgate torsion bars, hood return mechanisms or interior lid pivots requiring controlled spring tension.

Technical Specifications

  • Part Number: 9Y0 615 270

  • Material: Heat-treated spring steel (zinc-plated)

  • Outer Diameter: 8.5 mm (approximate)

  • Wire Diameter: 1.5 mm (approximate)

  • Number of Coils: 16 active turns

  • Leg Lengths: OEM-specified for correct lever engagement

  • Torque Rating: Factory spec (refer to service manual)

  • Operating Temperature: –40 °C … +120 °C

Installation Overview

  1. Access the mechanism (hatch, hood or lid) and relieve any pre-load by positioning the lever at neutral.

  2. Remove the old spring by carefully unwinding its legs from the mounting posts.

  3. Position the new torsion spring with its coils aligned on the pivot shaft and legs on their respective mounts.

  4. Wind the spring into place, ensuring correct leg orientation and tension.

  5. Test the mechanism for smooth, consistent return and adjust preload if necessary.
